Welcome to the IS2 Group
The Intelligent Sensors and Integrated Systems (IS2) research group of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, consists of 8 staff members (Doctors) and five PhD students. The Group is mainly located at the North Campus (Campus Nord), as well as the Diagonal-Besòs Campus, both in Barcelona. The group holds the certification of excellence from the AGAUR (Generalitat de Catalunya) as a Consolidated Research Group (2022 SGR 01054).
The IS2 group research is aimed at the design of discrete and integrated sensors and their processing in the broadest sense: from the analog conditioning to the design of hardware and software for its intelligent processing by means of machine learning and other approaches, as well as the development of instrumentation and measurement systems based on sensors.
The group's activity includes system design, sensor design, conditioning electronics and data processing at all levels: from full-custom integrated circuits (ICs) to FPGAs and embedded systems to conventional software solutions. The measurement methods are, among others, ultrasound imaging, infrared spectroscopy, electromagnetic fields, optical, capacitive and Lorentz force.
The main applications of interest include non-destructive tests, ultrasound imaging, infrared, food quality measurement sensors, machine learning and bioinspired systems.
